Match report

Real Abasto Reservas left Círculo Parque’s stadium with three points that felt well earned, though not without work. The final 2-1 neatly sums up what happened on the first matchday of Primera I in GBA Sur: two teams that set out to do the same thing, two balanced 4-4-2 formations, but the visitors had more clarity when the ball moved quickly. Círculo Parque had its moment in the match and showed it through the goal from Dante Murat, the 25-year-old full-back who grew up in Mendoza with workshop stories and working-class graft. But Real Abasto found answers whenever it needed them, and in Segunda División that is often the difference.

Xavier Farías, at just 16 years old, was a nightmare for the home defence down the right. The youngster from Tandil scores with a natural ease that disarms; he does not play as if he were that age. Salvador Pollini, a 27-year-old central midfielder who knows consistency well after years at the club, sealed the result confidently. For Círculo Parque, Santi Pawlak ran the side from midfield — he did his job, though he picked up a yellow — and managed to provide the assist for Murat’s goal, but it was not enough to sustain the tempo they needed. Bautista Altuna, the visitors’ full-back, handled the left flank well without standing out, but the important thing is that he closed down spaces when needed.

The home side were left with the bitter taste of a defeat that need not have been. In Primera I of GBA Sur, nobody gives anything away, and Real Abasto knows it: it came, took what it wanted and left. For Círculo Parque, the next few matchdays will show whether this slip is a starting point to adjust something or simply another night in the season. For now, the visitors have the comfort of having won away from home.
