Def. Agronomía Centro0 - 1corcho junior

El Porvenir de Montserrat took a tight victory in La Plata, where Def. Agronomía Centro could not break down an away block that defended solidly. The final 1-0 sums up what happened on the pitch: two teams who went for the same thing, balanced 4-4-2s, with no major tactical differences but with details that made the difference. The goal came when the home side least expected it, in a tight match where space was the preserve of whoever made the best use of it.

Genaro Padín, a 23-year-old striker who arrived at El Porvenir almost by chance after a recommended trial, was the effective spearhead of the away team. His rating of 7.5 reflects a significant performance, though he was not the only one to have an impact on the victory. Ramón Varese in defence (7.4) maintained the structure El Porvenir needed to contain Yair Spinelli, a striker for the home side with roots in Comodoro Rivadavia but who failed to make the most of his chances. Genaro Zielinski at right-back was outstanding with his attacking runs: a 7.6 rating and a yellow card that shows his physical commitment, though without neglecting his defensive duties. In midfield, Def. Agronomía Centro had Gino Baciocchi, a defensive midfielder of just 19 years old (6.7) who did his job without fuss, and Sergio Pessina on the left (6.6), who worked hard but without causing too much alarm in the away side.

For Def. Agronomía Centro, the defeat hurts because the match was manageable. It was not punishment, but it was a lesson in the importance of details in the early matchdays. El Porvenir de Montserrat, meanwhile, leaves La Plata with three gold-dust points in the bag, the reward for a disciplined defensive attitude without any scares. In Primera I in the southern zone, points away from home are worth double.
