A football manager without pay-to-win
You know the pattern. The game is free, you get hooked, and two weeks in you discover that the player who pays has a squad you will never have. ELDT is built so that cannot happen: you climb by managing, not by paying.
What money can never buy
Players. Attribute upgrades. Energy, boosters or "spins". Club budget. Results. Any sporting advantage whatsoever. The transfer market runs on the club's virtual money, which you earn by running the club well: gate receipts, sponsors, prize money and sales. Whoever beats you beat you by managing.

What Supporter is for
There is an optional membership, Supporter, for people who want to back the game. It pays for club identity and conveniences: visual touches for your club, more messages with the in-game assistant, a flair next to your name, that sort of thing. None of it moves a result. A free manager and a Supporter with the same squad have exactly the same chances.
Why we are strict about it
An online manager lives or dies on whether the league table is honest. If third place could buy its way to the top, the table lies and the game is dead. The 5,456 clubs of the English pyramid compete under the same rules: same market, same finances, same Thursdays and Saturdays at 19:00. The only difference between two clubs is who runs them.
That is also why everyone starts on the same day when England opens, at the bottom of the pyramid. Nobody buys a head start. If that sounds like your kind of game, here is what ELDT is and how it works week to week.
Where the club's money comes from
Every club lives on what it earns: gate receipts, sponsors, prize money and player sales. It spends on wages, stadium works, loans and the transfer market, where players go to the highest bidder in three-day auctions. A club that pays wages it cannot afford ends up selling; one that manages well buys. None of this can be topped up from outside, which is exactly why the table means something.
What a week in ELDT looks like
League matches on Thursday and Saturday from 19:00 UK time, kicking off in waves every 15 minutes. The ELDT Cup on Tuesday, a knockout by level so you face clubs of your own size. European cups on Wednesday for the best clubs of each country. Friendlies on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and private leagues on Sunday. The youth tournament plays on Thursday and Saturday mornings at 07:00. A season is 30 matchdays in a league of 16 clubs, with promotion for the champion, a play-off for the runner-up and relegation for the bottom four. The full rundown is here.
