How ELDT works: the manager's week explained
ELDT is not played for ten hours straight. You live a whole week: log in when you like, do your bit and wait for the match. This page explains what happens on each day and how the pieces fit together.
The pyramid
England has 341 leagues and 5,456 clubs across five levels: First Division, Second Division, Third Division, Fourth Division, Fifth Division. Every league has 16 clubs; the pyramid grows by four at each level, from one league at the top to up to 256 in the Fifth Division. A season is 30 matchdays. New managers start in the Fifth Division and need four promotions to reach the First Division.
The champion of each league goes straight up. The runner-up plays a one-off play-off against a side that finished 9th to 12th in the league above. 13th to 16th go down.

The week
Thursday and Saturday, from 19:00 UK time: league matches, kicking off in waves every 15 minutes. Tuesday: the ELDT Cup, a knockout competition played by level, so a Fourth Division club faces clubs of its own size. Wednesday: the European cups, where the best clubs of each country meet. Monday, Wednesday and Friday: friendlies to test tactics and earn a little at the gate. Sunday: private leagues with friends.
The youth tournament has its own slot: Thursdays and Saturdays at 07:00, so the youngsters play before the first team.
The transfer market
Every player on the market is sold by auction, over three days. You bid against other managers and against computer-run clubs; the highest bid when the clock runs out wins. Clubs can also loan players to each other. All of it is paid with the club's virtual money, which comes from gate receipts, sponsors, prize money and sales, never from your wallet.
Training and the academy
Each week you choose what the squad works on, with intensities and a coaching staff that matters. Young players improve a lot, veterans barely. The academy has scouts and its own youth tournament, and the best kids come through to the first team as the club's crown jewels.
Live matches
Matches are simulated on the server at kick-off time and commentated minute by minute, in nine languages. Follow live on your phone or read the report later; line-ups, scorers, cards and injuries are all there. Nothing requires you to be online.
Money, ground and board
Tickets, sponsors, wages, loans and stadium works: stands, a big screen, a museum, a statue of your idol. The board sets objectives and the fans react to results. Money is managed or it runs out. If any of this sounds like your kind of game, start with the overview and read why there is no pay-to-win.
