Argentinos de Recoleta0 - 1Atlético Villa Devoto

Atlético Villa Devoto took a narrow victory in Recoleta that reflects well how it was played: two teams who went for balance, who respected each other, where the difference was not tactical but in execution. A goal from Tiago Caruso in the second half decided an afternoon where Argentinos de Recoleta had its chances but did not take them. The home side dominated in spells, pressed towards the end, but ran into Francisco Toscano, the visiting goalkeeper who at 31 is still saving shots as if every match were decisive. Villa Devoto knew how to suffer when it was necessary and strike when the chance appeared.

Caruso, a 27-year-old striker with a fine rating of 7.2, was lethal with his intervention. That kind of goal seems tattooed onto him: the one from the youngster who grew up seeing chances where others saw dead ends. Sandro Saéz, the centre-back of just 17 whom Villa Devoto recently signed from Resistencia, showed that backing youth pays off when the youngster is switched on. His rating of 7.3 does not lie. In Recoleta, Sebastian Doval and Agustín Riquelme at the back did a solid job but without any sparkle: both on 6.6, just what you expect from a centre-back who does his job but does not solve things. Mauro Rossini on the home side's left tried to create, but with 6.5 he was not the one to unbalance things either.

That was the match: tight, without great flashes but decent enough to watch. Villa Devoto picks up three golden points away from home, a result that in Segunda is usually worth its weight in gold. Argentinos de Recoleta are left frustrated at not turning their chances into goals, at having allowed the visitors to come and go without major trouble. On matchday 14 of Primera I de CABA, all points are equal, but these mean more in Devoto than in Recoleta.
