Atlético Villa Devoto FC1 - 0Sportivo Belgrano R Norte

Atlético Villa Devoto FC took a deserved victory against Sportivo Belgrano R Norte on matchday two of Primera L de CABA, with a goal from Pichu Vigevani that settled a tight fixture in which both squads opted for the safe route. The home side controlled the tempo without being overwhelming, while the visitors defended with organisation but without creating sustained danger. A win that allows the Devoto outfit to climb the table on the right foot after the opening day.

Vigevani, in the best form of his life at 26, found the gap when it mattered most. The Mendoza-born striker has that goalscorer’s instinct that cannot be taught anywhere: he is where the ball drops, makes decisions quickly, and finishes without hesitation. His goal was the difference in a match where Javier Brassi led the midfield with intelligent reading of the game, those passes that break lines without fuss, typical of a holding midfielder who has learned to think before running. Benjamín López contributed from left-back with an assist that showed good defensive level and attacking connection. In goal, Giuliano Biagioli had to step in at specific moments and did so without any drama, although he picked up a yellow card for rushing out.

For Belgrano R Norte it was an afternoon of little attacking movement. Alberto Braun, the 22-year-old midfielder, tried a few combinations but found no real space. Gino Bilbao in goal had no major responsibility, which also speaks to the home side's defensive effectiveness. The away team left empty-handed but without too many complaints: Lauti Quintana at left-back carried out his holding role without getting forward. Villa Devoto managed the tempo with sound judgement, made the most of home advantage and closed the spaces well. Belgrano will need more attacking impetus if they want to compete in this division.
