Club Atlético San Silvines De Boedo0 - 0Sportivo Flores Sur

Veterinarios de Barracas and Sportivo Flores Sur met at the home stadium without being able to break down the opposition’s defensive wall in a match that left more questions than answers for both in matchday 2 of the Primera L de CABA. The 0-0 was the result of a contest in which both line-ups went with similar approaches, each with a 4-4-2, but neither managed to produce enough attacking clarity to take the three points. Barracas had home advantage, but that was not enough for the hosts to find the gaps in the away defence.

Sebastián Piris, the home side’s striker with a rating of 7.2, did not have one of his best nights to break the deadlock set by Flores Sur. Ramiro Greco, the Merlo midfielder who is comfortable on both feet, tried to create movement in attack but the opposition defence knew how to close ranks with discipline. For the visitors, Claudio Santini, a 33-year-old Mendoza centre-back with plenty of experience, along with Alfredo Saliba in central midfield, kept the team’s structure intact and without cracks. The Comodoro Rivadavia midfielder was a key factor in nullifying the home side’s attempts to build play. Chino Zuccotti, the young centre-back of just 21, put in a solid display at the back for Barracas but could not change the course of the match either.

The truth is that Barracas are left with the feeling of having wasted an opportunity at home, while Flores Sur takes the draw as a valid result considering they played away from home. For both, the reality is that football needs more than defensive order: it needs creativity and precision. In this matchday 2, neither side lived up to that demand.
