Argentinos de Chacarita took a deserved win against Independiente Agronomía in a match where both sides looked for balance without finding much room. The 1-0 was the fair result of an afternoon where defensive solidity counted for more than attacking ambition. In Primera L - GBA Sur, matchday 4, the home side took an important step up the table with a victory that showed tactical maturity rather than spectacle.
Osvaldo Aizpurua, the veteran striker aged 38 who has played every pitch with the experience of someone who expects no favours, was the man who settled the contest. In a side where Lautaro Bottura (25 years, booked in the build-up) did not find the space to get at defenders down the left, it was the seasoned Aizpurua who took his chance when it came. Diego Silvera, the Mendoza-born midfielder aged 28 who handles both feet naturally, orchestrated things from midfield without overdoing it. Gregorio Zunino, the 23-year-old Brazilian right-back, was assured at the back. Uriel Tellini, the resilient 19-year-old goalkeeper, hardly needed to make a notable intervention.
For the visitors, Independiente Agronomía could not break down the Chacarita block. Martín Lagos (20 years) tried from the right wing, while Bautista Pini on the left could not create sustained danger. Nahuel Stankovic, the 38-year-old goalkeeper who was booked, was left watching a match in which his side never came close to seriously troubling their hosts. Argentinos controlled the tempo, managed the game and took the three points without being put under too much pressure. It was not brilliant, but it was effective. In regional competitions, that usually matters.
