Match report
Villa Riachuelo took a match that could have been theirs much earlier on the Argentinos de Chacarita pitch. It was a brilliant, goal-filled match in which the visitors turned a 2-1 deficit around to win 3-2 on matchday 15 of Primera L of GBA Sur. Both sides came out with similar line-ups, balanced 4-4-2s, which produced an open contest with space for everyone. The home side had moments to put the match to bed when they went ahead, but their lack of cutting edge in the final stages left the door open for Villa Riachuelo to make their chances count.
Xavier Visini scored for Argentinos de Chacarita with a 7.2 rating, while Lautaro Bottura also netted a goal for the home side. But Villa Riachuelo responded with three different scorers: Franco Raffaeli from right-back, Francisco Lara from midfield and Cristian Iturriaga finding the net. Leonardo Fernández in the home defence provided an assist but it was not enough to avoid defeat. Goalkeeper Patricio Viardot, with a 7.5 rating, was key in keeping the visitors in it at the moments when Argentinos were pressing to level things up or break the deadlock.
What the match left behind is that Villa Riachuelo read the spaces in transition better and made the most of their moments when they arrived. Argentinos had the upper hand in spells but lacked penetration in the final pass. The home side could not hold on to a two-goal lead and it cost them dearly. For Villa Riachuelo, the away win is pure gold in these divisions where every point matters. For Argentinos, there is the feeling of a match thrown away, especially considering they had the lead and failed to see it out.
