Unión Once0 - 0Atletico Paratero

Unión Once and Sportivo Floresta Sur met in a match that summed up, perhaps better than a thousand words, the frustration of those looking to win without finding any cracks in the opponent. The 0-0 on matchday 12 of Primera I GBA Norte was left as a shared point that satisfies few, although both sides deployed similar systems — balanced 4-4-2s — and nothing in the tactics suggested anyone was going to break the deadlock without taking major risks.

Sebastián Vicente, the 28-year-old Brazilian left-back, carried out his defensive role without any sparkle but without any dangerous exposure for Unión Once. In midfield, Osvaldo Pedraza, barely a youngster of 19 born in Merlo, showed that hunger that marks out someone with no margin for error; he picked up a yellow card but his presence on the right was constant. Omar Sarmiento, the 25-year-old central midfielder, was the silent anchor in the middle, that kind of player who does not appear in the headlines but whose absence is felt. For the visitors, Agustín Zanforlin, the experienced 31-year-old striker, found no space. Ángel Gordon, Sportivo Floresta Sur's young centre-back, also picked up a yellow card in a defence that was rarely troubled.

The match was what a goalless draw in Greater Buenos Aires is: legitimate in its flow, but incomplete in its outcome. Unión Once did not face any risk of losing at home, but nor did they create enough to feel like winners. For Sportivo Floresta Sur, the trip to Provincia left a bittersweet taste: a point salvaged, but no conviction that they had come close. Two teams that needed three points and settled for one.
