Match report

Mutual Abasto did not let up at home and beat Deportivo Caballito Veteranos three-two in a match that had everything: goals, intensity and that dose of uncertainty that keeps you glued to your seat until the end. Both teams came out with similar ideas, an even 4-4-2 that promised open football, and so it proved. The home side made the most of their own pitch with good judgement, while the visitors never gave up and put the Abasto defence under pressure on more than one occasion. The revenge belonged to the academy of Joaco Borgia, a thirty-one-year-old striker born in the south, who scored three goals and left his indelible mark on the result. Borgia, with a rating of 9.6, was practically unstoppable: a goal machine who took every chance his teammates laid on for him.

At the other end, Ezequiel Zola and Daniel Huber scored one each for the visitors, showing that Caballito has attacking resources even if it was not enough. Both Patagonian wingers and attacking midfielders tried to maintain the tempo, but the home side found in their defence a respectable bastion. Lionel Quaglia in goal saved what needed saving; the full-backs Benjamín Santos and Yoel Quintero carried out their defensive tasks without shining too brightly, but enough. Brian Nieto was booked in midfield while looking to win the ball back, the kind of work that does not always show up in the statistics but helps.

Mutual Abasto take the three points on a matchday where home wins carried weight. For Caballito, the 2-3 is a painful defeat because the side were there, they competed as equals, but they lacked precision at key moments. In Primera I GBA Norte, these results define campaigns.
