Ferro Balvanera came out on top with some justice on matchday 15 of Primera L de CABA, beating Unión Palermo Hollywood 2-1 in a match where both sides showed similar approaches but with differences in execution. The home side made the most of being at home to control the pace, while the visitors always arrived with the intention of finding space in midfield. Two goals for Ferro against one from the Palermo Hollywood side settled an afternoon where neither team gave anything away, although the hosts got it right at the key moments.
Oliverio Scopelliti was decisive in the home side's win, converting one of the clear chances Ferro created down their right flank. The 37-year-old veteran remains a reliable striker in these sort of fixtures where the tempo is not always electric; with his experience, he gets the better of young rivals who are still trying to find their place in CABA football. Misael Arrojo, the attacking midfielder of just 19 years old, also got on the scoresheet, showing that Ferro have pieces in their squad who can make the difference when required. Eric Zambelli pulled one back for Unión Palermo Hollywood with a goal that narrowed the gap in the closing stages, but it was not enough to alter the result. Doval in the home goal had to step up at the right moments, while Montoya and Tomi Cortés kept the defensive shape steady without alarms. Lucio Bottani, from the visitors' back line, tried to organise play but could not stop the home side from converting their chances.
For Ferro, the victory consolidates their place in the table with a win that reflects their ability to make the most of others' mistakes. For Unión Palermo Hollywood, the blow was a bitter one because they were in a position to have drawn or even won if they had been more clinical in attack. The next matchday will tell whether Ferro can keep this winning run going.
