Mitre Sport1 - 2Prov. Saavedra

Provincial Saavedra took a deserved win away from home in the Primera L de CABA classic against Liga Recoleta. With a final 2-1, the visitors showed a ruthlessness the home side could not match, despite setting up a tight match where both teams looked for balance from the outset. Two identical 4-4-2 line-ups and evenly matched mentalities produced a cramped contest, with no room given away, where any lapse could be fatal.

Saúl Beltramo opened the scoring for Saavedra with a goal that caught the home defender by surprise. The centre-back, just 24 but with the solidity of someone brought up in neighbourhoods where toughness is a necessity, got forward into the box and finished with precision. Then Nicolás Greco, the midfielder who builds patiently but gets involved when he has to, extended the visitors' lead. Liga Recoleta replied through Gael Pereyra, the 20-year-old Brazilian forward who scored to narrow the gap, but it was not enough. Constantino Gutiérrez in the visitors' goal, a 34-year-old veteran who has seen generations pass beneath the posts, was assured at the key moments. A booking went against him in the record, but his interventions were decisive. Joaquín Vannini, the 19-year-old right-back with the restlessness of someone still discovering his potential, did his defensive job without any fuss.

Provincial Saavedra leave Recoleta with three points that bring them closer to their aims. Liga Recoleta are left with the bitter feeling of having gone toe to toe but failing to make their chances count. The young Pereyra did enough to leave a better taste, but it was not enough against the consistency of Beltramo and Greco. For the home side, this matchday 15 becomes a turning point, one in which they will have to redefine their efficiency if they want to keep their hopes alive in the competition.
