Pibes Retiro0 - 5C. y Barrio Parque Centenario

Parque Centenario came to Retiro and tore them apart. Five goals without reply in matchday 16 of Primera I de GBA Sur, with the home side completely outplayed from the first half. Both teams went with a 4-4-2 shape and balanced mentality, but the difference in execution was immense. Pibes Retiro never found any rhythm, their midfielders could not contain the visitors’ flow of play, and at the back they were exposed time and again. Joaquín Rosenfeld in the centre of defence tried to organise things, but his teammates did not back him up. Jonathan Vacca on the right had an afternoon to forget, constantly being outmanoeuvred. Mateo Silvestre in midfield could not link up with his teammates or impose his presence.

For Parque Centenario, Nilo Azarola was decisive: he scored a goal and provided two assists in a performance that earned him an 8.2 rating, virtually in a different class from his markers. At just 25, the central midfielder showed he is several levels above the local standard. Lolo Bidegain, a 30-year-old winger with experience, also celebrated. Matías Bruschi added another from the back line, taking advantage of the space they were given. Ethan Lara, the 34-year-old striker who would appear to be nearing the end of his career, scored another and was booked, but he was important in the attacking movement. Damián Cisneros in goal also saw action, although his card suggests he had to intervene more than was strictly necessary.

The thrashing leaves Pibes Retiro in an awkward situation. It was not just a defeat: it was a display of clear superiority in every aspect. Their players did not reach the required level, while Parque Centenario, without doing anything tactically extraordinary, executed the basics with surgical precision. For ELDT, this result demands reflection on whether the team is really competing at this level.
