corcho junior1 - 0Def. Agronomía Centro

El Porvenir de Montserrat claimed a narrow win against Def. Agronomía Centro in a match where both teams set up with similar systems without managing to find decisive space. The only difference was Mateo Barrios' goal, which sealed the 1-0 in the home side's favour in a matchday 16 of Primera I de GBA Sur where every point is worth its weight in gold. It was a tight contest, with little flowing football but plenty of tactical intelligence, where the four defenders on each side acted as a cushion that limited the rival's attacking bursts.

El Porvenir built its victory on defensive solidity and the efficient use of its full-backs. Jonathan Vita, with his track record as a 27-year-old left-back forged in lower leagues, performed a containing role that allowed Hector Greco freedom to attack down the left flank. In the centre of defence, Ramón Varese was a rock at 29, while Genaro Padín up front showed the typical movements of a striker of his age, still young but with accumulated experience in the area. The goal came when Agronomía least expected it, not amid a burst of brilliant play but rather through the clarity of a team that knows how to read the match.

From the away side's perspective, the task was a difficult one. Midfielder Vicente Zubeldía tried to organise the central defence, while Gino Baciocchi, at just 19 years old, had to learn on the job at that level of competition. Nico Vigliani on the far right had his moments but did not find the depth he was after. Agronomía Centro did not waste chances for lack of boldness, but for a lack of precision in the final third. A draw would have been the fair result, but football often rewards the side that scores first, and that was El Porvenir.
