Unión Palermo Hollywood3 - 1Patriotas Núñez

Unión Palermo Hollywood did not need to play a perfect match to see off Patriotas Núñez. With a solid display and by making the most of the space offered by a visitor who never quite found their rhythm, the home side claimed a comfortable victory that keeps them in contention in the Primera L de CABA. The balanced 4-4-2 formation used by the home team worked naturally, allowing the Argentinian midfielders to create an overload in the transitional areas. Patriotas Núñez arrived with similar intentions, but lacked the attacking punch to seriously trouble Iván Matos in the home goal. The thirty-year-old goalkeeper kept his net relatively secure throughout the match, although he was not forced into too many dangerous saves.

Milton Vitalini was the engine of the midfield for most of the match. The thirty-year-old holding midfielder, that youngster the coach almost stumbled upon years ago in San Justo, used his experience to organise play from the middle. Whenever he found space, he had no hesitation in pushing forward. Gonzalo Ulloa on the left put in a good-level performance, showing the energy of a twenty-one-year-old combined with precise ball control that allowed him to beat his man. On the right flank, Patricio Sifuentes was a constant danger with his quick movements in tight spaces, that talent he developed as a child in Porto Alegre learning to turn in a few square metres.

The goals came naturally for the home side without Patriotas Núñez managing to offer any consistent resistance. Adrián Gutiérrez got the consolation goal for the visitors with a strike that at least allowed the Núñez side to avoid total anonymity, though a yellow card restricted his movements in the second half. Milton Vitalini scored in the congestion zone after good team work, while Darío Valentini, the twenty-three-year-old attacking midfielder who had impressed scouts with his ability to play without relying on a particular foot, extended the lead with a finish that effectively ended the match.

The final verdict was clear: three goals for Unión Palermo Hollywood and just one for the visitors. It was not a tactically complex match, but rather one in which the home side were more consistent in execution, took their chances and made fewer mistakes. Patriotas Núñez tried to compete with a similar structure, but lacked that extra bit of creativity or depth to really unsettle the home side. A victory that strengthens Unión Palermo Hollywood in their league battle and, beyond its margin, reflects the team work of a squad that knows how to manage home fixtures.
