Juventud Abasto did not need to work any magic to beat Deportivo Constitución Veteranos on matchday 11 of Primera L - GBA Oeste. The home side imposed its authority from the off with a balanced approach that smothered the visitors’ intentions, despite arriving with a similar tactical set-up but without the resources to sustain it. The final 2-0 reflects a superiority that might have been more emphatic had the forwards been more accurate at the key moments. Galo Andueza opened the scoring in the first half, making the most of that instinct that marks him out for being in the right place when the ball rebounds in the area. Leonardo Arnaldi added the second after the break, wrapping up a match in which Juventud Abasto controlled the tempo without needing to take too many risks.
At the back, the home centre-back pairing worked without any scares. Tobías Conti and a more composed Ivo Caro than usual (he was booked) neutralised any dangerous approach from the visitors. Leandro Tassone in goal was barely tested, which says plenty about the defensive display. Genaro Arriaga, the central midfielder aged only 16 for Constitución Veteranos, tried to turn between the lines as he knows how, but found an alert home midfield that gave him no space. Felipe Santini, the Chilean winger for the visitors, also failed to create any real danger from his position.
What was clear is that Juventud Abasto got through the match without any conviction to do something different: they pressed at the right times, won the ball back and took advantage of the opposition’s mistakes. Deportivo Constitución Veteranos never found any attacking fluency or the ability to seriously trouble them. Ricardo Schwartzman at left-back for the visitors barely took part in any attacking moves that generated danger. It was a comfortable win for the home side, without wasting energy, on an afternoon where the football was more businesslike than spectacular. The three points stayed at home.
