Argentinos de Recoleta5 - 4Vet. Núñez

Argentinos de Recoleta won 5-4 in a thrilling match that could have gone either way, where attacking efficiency was decisive and the defenders barely had time to breathe over the ninety minutes. With both teams set up in 4-4-2 and mentally balanced, what happened on the pitch was a pure goal fest: no tactic could hold up when the forwards were finding space every five seconds. The Recoleta side made the most of playing at home to claim a narrow but deserved victory, although either team could have left the match with reasons to complain.

Franco Sotelo was the man of the match on the home side's right wing, scoring twice with the coolness of someone who knows exactly what he wants when he receives the ball. His 8.4 rating translated into constant hunger: every time he touched the ball, he created danger. Bauti Cantero, aged 29 and at the peak of his powers, also scored twice and almost sent the match into chaos with his presence; a yellow card stopped him from being more aggressive in the second half. For Veteranos, Leonel Bisi also caused damage from the opposite right flank: two goals that kept the away side alive until the end. Xavier Aloma, the young left-back, surprised everyone by scoring during a daring foray forward. Norberto León also appeared on the scoresheet from midfield. But Argentinos' attacking ability was one level higher: Olivier Zunino controlled what he could in midfield, while Oscar Bandini and Maxi Volpi covered the wings as best they could in a relentless battle.

The match left Veteranos Núñez with the feeling that they had been right there, that they had their chances, but they lacked defensive solidity during the key minutes. Argentinos pick up three vital points in the group, although both defences raise questions ahead of what is to come in Primera I de CABA. A thrilling match that was well worth watching.
