Match report

Aurora de Parque Patricios secured a narrow victory over Social y Deportivo Versalles on the third matchday of Primera I de CABA, in a match where both sides set up in similar formations but the home team made better use of its opportunities. The final 1-0 scoreline accurately reflects what happened on the pitch: two organised teams in 4-4-2 formations, with no great attacking ambitions and an emphasis on defensive solidity. Rubén Villalba, Aurora’s central midfielder, broke the deadlock with the goal that decided the three points. Striker Mateo Cantero was a constant presence in the home attack, tirelessly looking for space, although without too many clear opportunities to turn his efforts into goals.

In defence, Ismael Aizpún at the heart of Aurora’s back line showed good awareness despite being 21 years old and having a modest 7.4 rating, while Augusto López on the right did his job out wide without too many alarms. For the visitors, centre-back Sergio Salazar tried to contain the home side’s attacks, although he committed a foul that earned him a yellow card. Veteran Tincho Quiroga, with 35 years under his belt and a 7.1 rating, provides Aurora with the experience that teams in this division need. For Versalles, Mauro Bottani in midfield (6.7 rating) was not effective enough to impose his authority, while Nico Tagle on the right went largely unnoticed for much of the match.

The result leaves Aurora in a comfortable position after winning at home, while Versalles are left with the task of finding greater attacking efficiency. It was a match without any major scares or drama, but one in which the home side took advantage of playing at home to claim victory against visitors who were unable to create any real danger in front of Aurora’s goal.
