Defensores de Constitución2 - 1Árbitros fc

Defensores de Constitución took a tight victory that could have been more comfortable had they made better use of their chances in the first half. On the opening matchday of Primera E, the home side beat Club Pompeya 2-1 in a match where both teams opted for the same thing: a balanced 4-4-2 that produced a scrappy game with not many concessions. The early goal from Tiziano Ríos, the 16-year-old central midfielder who is gaining experience in the team, put the home side ahead, but the visitors responded quickly with Miguel Dybala levelling things up. The Merlo man who arrived at Pompeya without a history of official trials moved well in the box and found his chance when the Defensores defence dropped its guard a little.

The second half was where Defensores showed better circulation. Jorge Gómez, the attacking midfielder who cut his teeth in Comodoro Rivadavia, was a constant presence in attack and was key to the team regaining control. Ríos appeared again with his assist for the goal that won it for them, showing football maturity for someone his age. Club Pompeya did not disappear: Sebastián Romero, the 25-year-old centre-back who knows sacrifice well from his oilfield childhood, tried to maintain defensive order, but his fellow defenders were less precise in the build-up.

Pablo Herrera, the 26-year-old left-back playing from Tigre, was booked for overzealousness but fulfilled his defensive role without fuss. Mario Vázquez and Coco Messi, the Bahía Blanca and Lanús centre-backs, shut things down at the back when needed. Pompeya always looked to Dybala up front, but lacked consistency in the build-up play. A fair result in a match where Defensores were more decisive with the chances they were given.
