Círculo La Boca came away with a tight, fair win against El Vencedor de San Telmo on matchday 14 of Primera L - GBA Norte. The 2-1 result favoured the home side, who knew how to manage the tempo of a pitch where both sides came in with similar plans: two balanced 4-4-2 line-ups that respected each other more than they attacked each other. In a match without major scares but with enough tension, the hosts found the goals they needed while the visitors could only narrow the gap at the end.
Círculo's display was steady. Cristian Cacciatore in defence kept things secure at the back with a 7.7 rating, while up front the right touches of quality appeared: Coco Zanini, 21 and still in that maturing process that characterises strikers his age, scored a goal that carried weight. Mariano Goñi, that 37-year-old left winger from Mendoza who has already been at the club for several campaigns, also contributed in attack with one of the goals. Lucho Mazza did his job on the right without being decisive, while Lionel Pratto, the right-back from Merlo, fulfilled his role in both directions without any great spotlight.
For El Vencedor de San Telmo, Jesús Bettega pulled one back with a goal that came too late to change the story of the match. The winger from Mendoza had his moments but could not create the necessary imbalance on a pitch that demanded more than the away side could deliver. Roberto Molina, the midfielder aged just 20 who arrived three years ago in search of his chance, provided an assist but lacked clarity in possession to orchestrate anything more. Círculo La Boca take three valuable points. San Telmo will have to be self-critical about how they handled an afternoon where it was not enough for more.
