Indep. Agronomía and Sociedad Parque Centenario shared the points in a match that had everything: goals, yellow cards and footballers who stepped up when they were needed most. The 2-2 draw on Agronomía’s pitch reflected two evenly matched sides in their set-ups, both willing to attack without neglecting the back line too much. It was not a particularly polished match, but it was dynamic, with constant changes of pace and moments when either side could have taken the victory.
Walter Brunelli was one of the best the home side had to offer. The midfielder from Tandil scored a goal and provided an assist, although he paid a heavy price for his drive with a yellow card that left him hanging by a thread. Bautista Pini, the Mendoza-born left-back, also found the net in what was a generous afternoon in terms of attacking contribution from defence. For the visitors, Uriel Schiavi was virtually unstoppable. The Patagonian striker, with the 27 years of someone who already knows the opponents by heart, scored two goals and justified his 8.4 rating with decisive displays when the scoreboard called for them. Mirko Medina, the experienced midfielder from Resistencia, provided two assists, proving that at 33 he still has the nous for decisive passes. Víctor Villa, the 20-year-old centre-back, tried to organise things from the back with an assist that did come off, but the defences never quite convinced under the toughest circumstances.
The result leaves a bittersweet feeling for both. Agronomía, at home, could not make the most of their home pitch despite having their moments. Parque Centenario showed they can compete away from home, although they were left with the feeling of having dropped points along the way. In the battle for the top spots in Primera L GBA Sur, these draws end up being sighs of relief for some and sighs of frustration for others.
