Match report
Sportivo Once Norte were unable to hold on to their home advantage and were beaten by Argentinos de Barracas in a match where both sides sought tactical balance without quite achieving it. The final 2-1 scoreline reflects the fairness of a closely fought result, but also exposes the home side’s defensive weaknesses in the second half. The visitors arrived in La Matanza with a solid mentality and left with all three points thanks to a team that knew how to make the most of their moments of clarity when they needed them most.
Jeremías Bernasconi opened the scoring for Sportivo Once Norte, taking his rating to 7.2 after a performance in keeping with his 30 years of experience. The Bahía Blanca-born striker, schooled on dirt pitches and in neighbourhood tournaments, found consistency in the first half, but the team were unable to consolidate their early dominance. Argentinos de Barracas, with Pancho Arazandi making confident saves (7.3) in goal, gradually gained ground as the match progressed. Federico Reyes, the Tucumán midfielder, scored one of the visitors’ goals with precise attacking judgement (7.2), while Pocho Beitia, the experienced 31-year-old striker from Comodoro Rivadavia, also found the net. Beitia, the youngster who promised five goals in summer tournaments, found a late-career opportunity to make an impact in a victory. Felipe Caparros, a central midfielder aged just 19, provided an assist that showed tactical maturity in the opposition midfield.
The home defeat raises questions over the defensive consistency of Sportivo Once Norte’s 4-4-2, which could not halt the visitors’ coordinated attacks after the break. Argentinos de Barracas, with Benicio Krüger holding firm at right-back and fulfilling his role as a reliable veteran, take a deserved victory on the second matchday of Primera I in GBA Oeste.
