Veteranos de Saavedra left no doubt on matchday 2 of Primera I GBA Oeste. With a convincing 3-0 victory over Central de Belgrano R El Barrio, the home side imposed their superiority from the first half in a match where both setups looked balanced on paper, but where the difference in technique and finishing ultimately proved enormous. Maximiliano Vecchi, the 31-year-old Paraguayan forward with an 8.4 rating, was the star of the afternoon: he scored twice, showcasing his goalscoring hunger with every venture into the visitors’ box. Tincho Rosati, the 20-year-old left midfielder from Resistencia, completed the feast with a goal and an assist that showed why the scout who spotted him in the youth ranks years ago backed bringing him to the club.
The away side, with a similar formation on paper, never found a way to trouble the home defence. Cacho Marín, their focal-point forward, barely made an impact in attack. Rolando Stankovic was booked in defence, which summed up much of what Central de Belgrano R El Barrio were: a side that could barely contain what was coming from the other end. Elián Navarro, Vet. Saavedra’s playmaker, dictated the tempo with the authority that comes from thirty years of experience, while the home defence, led by Mauricio Naranjo, snuffed out any attempt at a response.
For Veteranos, this emphatic win represents a solid starting point in the tournament. For Central de Belgrano R El Barrio, the thrashing hurts and demands deep reassessment ahead of what is to come. The difference in ratings between the two squads was reflected point by point on the scoreboard.
