Match report
General Pueyrredón de Constitución arrived in Liniers and came away with a comfortable victory, clearly dominating a match in which the home side could barely maintain the balance they had opted for. The 0-2 scoreline was more than fair: the visitors were efficient, took their chances and left with three well-earned points on the second matchday of Primera I of GBA Oeste.
Both teams set up in similar fashion, with two 4-4-2 formations and balanced mentalities, but General Pueyrredón found space more fluently. Marcelo Sgarbi was a constant presence on the right flank, contributing a goal and an assist from defence, one of those full-backs who play as forwards without abandoning their area. In midfield, Hector Rossini was responsible for building the play, while Nilo Artaza was tasked with finishing off the chances up front. Federación Liniers had Gabi Bettega and Lionel Mansur on the flanks, attempting to create from wide areas, but their incursions lacked precision. Axel Bonomi had little service up front, hemmed in by a visiting defence that refused to give ground. Constantino Bertone picked up a yellow card in the back line, but remained composed and solid.
What General Pueyrredón showed was efficiency rather than overwhelming dominance. Thiago Tello held his position well on the left, Sgarbi was lethal on the right and the visiting attack converted when required. For Federación Liniers, the result leaves a bitter taste: it was not one of those heavy defeats that hurt the pride, but it was a match lost in the details. The home side will need to regroup quickly if they want to join the fight for the top places. General Pueyrredón, meanwhile, are establishing themselves in the upper reaches with solidity.
