How a club's fanbase grows in a football manager

The fanbase is the mass of a club's supporters. In a football manager, the more fans you have, the more people come to the ground and the more you earn.

The fans are as much a part of the club as the players, and in manager games they are the engine of gate receipts: the fanbase grows or shrinks with results.

In ELDT every league or cup match adds or removes a fixed number of fans according to your division: winning adds, drawing adds a little and losing takes away, and the higher the division the bigger the numbers. A thrashing multiplies the gain by 1.5. Friendlies add a handful of fans, unless the club played another friendly in the previous 24 hours. On top of that, promotion adds 10%, a title adds 5% and relegation removes 10%, once per season.

The fanbase has a ceiling: the higher of your division's cap and 1.5 times your stadium capacity. At the ceiling winning adds nothing but losing still subtracts, so expanding the ground gives you room to grow. Marketing campaigns and the press officer help as well.
