What gate receipts are and how to raise them

Gate receipts are the money a club takes at every home match: mainly tickets, plus what people spend inside the ground on food and merchandise.

For a football club every home match is a day of income. The more people come and the more they spend, the more it takes. That is why the fanbase, the size of the ground and ticket prices are so connected. Pricing is a balance: very expensive tickets leave stands empty, very cheap ones fill the ground but leave less money, and finding that point is part of the job.

In ELDT you set ticket prices stand by stand (Terrace, Grandstand and VIP) and the game shows your price against the ideal one. Below the ideal more people come in but spend less inside; above it fewer come. Better to fill the ground at a middling price than to have empty stands at a high one.

On top of tickets, every home match brings income from concessions and merchandise, and the commercial manager adds an extra percentage. In Finances you see what each of your last home matches brought in, item by item. Home friendlies also earn, although fewer people come than to an official match.
