Atlético Villa Devoto FC0 - 0Club Atlético Santa Rosa

Villa Devoto and Pompeya met on matchday three of the Primera L of CABA in a match where both sides chose balance as their strategy. The goalless 0-0 was a reflection of two similar approaches, two 4-4-2 formations that respected each other and where clear chances were nowhere to be seen. It was not a particularly attractive match, but nor was it a shut-tight defence. It was, quite simply, a fixture in which both were content not to lose.

Villa Devoto sustained their game from the first half with Sandro Caro as the hub in midfield, a central midfielder of only 22 who already knows the club's codes well after joining years ago. Pompeya, with Néstor Vianello in the build-up play, had in Gael Milán their most dangerous option going forward, although the 27-year-old striker found no space to do damage. At the back, Adolfo Gigena did his job in the Pompeya defence, although he was booked for over-enthusiasm. Giuliano Biagioli at Villa Devoto and Santi Rojo at Pompeya had quiet shifts, with no major demands. The visiting goalkeeper, with a rating of 7.2, was the best-rated player in his team, while the home Brazilian showed his solid performance with 6.6.

The draw leaves both with a point that keeps them in mid-table, with no major consequences for either side. Villa Devoto leave with the feeling that they controlled the tempo at home, albeit without the ambition to go for more. Pompeya return to base with a result that halts any further bleeding of points, but which does not add enough to push on. On the next matchday, both will need to show more aggression if they want to climb the table.
