Match report

Aurora de Villa Devoto left no room for doubt on their home pitch. With a convincing 4-1 win over Prov. Flores on matchday ten of Primera I in GBA Oeste, the home side executed a well-organised game plan that picked apart opponents who arrived with similar intentions but lacked the clarity to sustain them. Both set up in balanced 4-4-2 formations, but the difference was in their efficiency: where Aurora found space and took advantage of it, Flores faded in the second half.

The numbers tell part of the story. Vidal Arena, the 17-year-old right-back, opened the scoring from a position that is not his natural one but allowed him to make dangerous runs into the opposition box. Agustín Iturbe, the left winger from the conurbation, added another with that left foot he has known so well since childhood. Milton Saliba, another 17-year-old youngster, rounded off the rout. In midfield, Leonardo Mata controlled the tempo from defensive midfield with the assurance of someone who understands that screening the defence is almost an art: a rating of 7.4 that was justified in every tackle and every anticipatory read. Genaro Tagliaferri, at 37 and with a long career behind him, was a leader on the pitch, showing that experience remains a valuable asset. The visitors' goal from Lalo Spadafora was barely a formality amid the home side's dominance; Lolo Vegas's assist from the left came far too late to change the course of the match.

Aurora strengthened their position with this emphatic victory. Prov. Flores, who showed intent particularly through Lolo Vegas's early efforts down the left, had no tactical answers when the match was decided. The difference in resources and execution was clear: 4-1 is a decisive punishment in any context. The visitors will have to rethink their approach ahead of the next matchdays.
