Match report

On an even and largely uneventful afternoon of football, General Pueyrredón de Constitución and Ferro Pompeya shared the points on matchday ten of Primera I Zona Oeste. The final 1-1 scoreline accurately reflected what happened on the pitch: two sides with identical tactical setups, both lining up in a 4-4-2, facing each other without either managing to impose their style. Samuel Pelletti opened the scoring for the home side with a goal that could have been the springboard for a victory, but Cris Viardot levelled for the visitors with the composure that comes from his experience in Primera. At 32, Ferro’s winger remains an influential option in attacking moves.

General Pueyrredón fielded a young defence, with just 17-year-old Máximo Cabrera sharing the centre-back pairing with Constantino Bertone, who was booked during the match. The Constitución side failed to make the most of home advantage beyond the early lead provided by Pelletti. Ferro, meanwhile, found a solid central midfielder in Ezequiel Guerra, who earned a rating of 7.2, while Alexis Romagnoli on the left and Giuliano Montañez on the right tried to create a constant threat. The right-back from Mendoza, at 38, was involved in the move that led to the equaliser, showing that he still has the quality to influence these fixtures.

The match was defined more by what did not happen than by what did. Tomi Verdi, a midfielder who emerged from a Rosario friendly years ago, was unable to turn his ability into concrete contributions. Ferro were satisfied with the result away from home, while Pueyrredón were left feeling they had wasted a golden opportunity in front of their fans. A draw that satisfies some and disappoints others in the GBA Oeste competition.
