Atlético Palermo Hollywood FC and Veteranos Saavedra shared the points in a match where balance was the dominant theme. The final 1-1 score accurately reflected what happened on the pitch: two teams with similar approaches who lacked enough attacking depth to tip the balance. Both line-ups in a 4-4-2 with balanced mentalities produced a scrappy match, where individual errors proved more decisive than collective strategies. Andrés Tellini opened the scoring for the home side with a goal that seemed to be leading towards victory, but Maximiliano Vecchi, Saavedra’s veteran striker, found the equaliser at a point when the home side had lowered the intensity.
Tellini, 28, with a solid rating of 7.2, deserved credit for scoring but could do little else in attack. His team-mate Galo Aristegui was more anonymous than expected, while Atlético Palermo Hollywood FC relied too heavily in defence on the work of Claudio Navarro in midfield, who picked up a yellow card for his restrained aggression. On the other side, Vecchi responded like a seasoned veteran. At 31, he retains the ability to be in the right place at exactly the right time. Joaquín Corona and Lorenzo Valsecchi added dynamism in midfield, although Corona also saw yellow, as did Gustavo Plaza in defence. Sebastian Giménez at left-back for the home side and Cristian Gallardo for the visitors played similar roles: both provided assists without being especially influential in the game.
The draw was fair overall, perhaps even generous to an away side that defended diligently. Palermo Hollywood Hollywood failed to make the most of home advantage and the chance to take all three points dissolved amid imprecision and an opponent that gave nothing away. For ELDT, rescuing a point away from home always has value, but without Vecchi’s attacking depth, Saavedra would have suffered more in the second half.
