Match report

Nueva Estrella Boedo took full advantage of home advantage to beat Provincia de Almagro convincingly in a match that was never in doubt. The 2-0 win came without any real scares, the product of a superiority that the home side exerted from the opening minutes against a visitor that never found the rhythm to compete. Both sides lined up in similar shapes, 4-4-2 and balanced mindsets, but Nueva Estrella Boedo found the gaps where Provincia had no answers. The goals came from least expected source: Adriano Vincenzi, the left-back born in Mendoza with family labour in his veins, scored twice to seal the result. A 26-year-old full-back in his best spell, with a rating of 8.1, making forward runs when his side needed width. Vincenzi was booked during the match, but by then he had already done the damage.

The home midfield worked as a unit. Tato Etcheverry, that 17-year-old youngster with the ease of someone who grew up watching the world pass by on the avenue, supplied two assists from his role as an attacking midfielder. Alberto Najib, a 33-year-old veteran who has built a career of adaptation with both feet, kept the circulation going in the middle. Manu Tagle, another who was booked, did his job in the holding role. Saúl Berasategui, the Chilean striker, worked up front without shining but without switching off.

Provincia had no answers. Benjamín Tévez, born in Patagonia where the wind shows no mercy, could not break through the home defence. Goalkeeper Simón Zarate was little more than a spectator. Adrián León, the 20-year-old centre-back with a reputation for composure on the ball, was out of the picture at several points. For Nueva Estrella Boedo, matchday 3 brought a win with no major cost in Primera I GBA Norte. For Provincia, it left the uncomfortable feeling of having been outplayed without mercy.
