Mutual Abasto2 - 3Def. Retiro Oeste

Defensores de Retiro Oeste took a hard-fought win from La Matanza in the most attacking fixture of the matchday, where Mutual Abasto did not have the ruthlessness to finish off a match they had controlled in part. The final 3-2 hides a battle in which both teams went for attack without fully giving up defensive security, the result of two 4-4-2 set-ups that produced a constant end-to-end contest over the ninety minutes. The home side played with intensity, but they lacked efficiency at key moments.

Rocco Bazzani scored for the home side at twenty, with the hunger of someone who knows he must play every minute as if it were his last, while Galo Basaldua also found the back of the net with an effort typical of someone who, at twenty-eight, is still running around like a man possessed. At the other end, Nene Bono was Retiro Oeste’s attacking beacon: the Uruguayan striker not only scored but also laid on an assist, posting a 7.7 rating where it mattered most. Bauti Buffoli, the eighteen-year-old who arrived at the club almost by chance some time ago, also got on the scoresheet and proved he can deliver when called upon. Goalkeeper Diego Brambilla worked solidly in the visitors’ defence, while centre-back Gino Jiménez kept the defensive structure intact at the times of greatest pressure.

The match left Mutual Abasto with the feeling of a missed opportunity, playing at home against a rival who proved to be more lethal. Defensa Retiro Oeste took three valuable points away from home and keeps adding in a section where every point counts. For the third matchday, those from La Matanza will have to review how they conceded three goals at home if they intend to get into the fight for the top spots.
