Federación Mataderos1 - 1Unión Once

Federación Mataderos and Unión Once shared the points in a match where balance was the order of the day. The 1-1 draw on matchday 3 of Primera I de GBA Norte reflected two sides with similar setups, both in a 4-4-2, who never quite found their attacking compass to tip the scales. The home side had their chances but could not build on the lead, while the visitors struck just when it was most needed.

Joaco Peralta opened the scoring for Federación Mataderos with a goal that allowed the home side to breathe in the early stages. The 32-year-old Brazilian forward, with all the experience he carries in the penalty area, made it count when the chance came. At the other end, Osvaldo Pedraza levelled things up for Unión Once. The 19-year-old Merlo midfielder, the sort who grew up kicking against the odds in the outer suburbs without ever losing sight of ambition, netted the goal that halted the home side's hopes of victory. Walter Bernardini, Federación Mataderos' right-back, had an assist in the match and was booked, while his performance was sound enough, though without any major impact on the final result. Francisco Juárez, the 18-year-old holding midfielder, tried to organise play from the middle with some effectiveness, though without flashes that took control of the match. At the back, Chino Villa carried out his role without alarm. For the visitors, Santiago Ferreyra at the heart of defence and the full-backs Juan Hoyos and Sebastián Vicente contained the attacks without any breaks in structure.

For Federación Mataderos, it was the feeling of two points dropped at home, a setting where they should have been more decisive. For Unión Once, the point away from home carries value, although the side will know they could have pushed for more if their finishing had been sharper. Both remain a work in progress at this stage of the tournament.
