General Alvear de Once2 - 1Club de Floresta Este

General Alvear de Once took a narrow victory on matchday 8 of the capital’s Primera L, beating Club de Floresta Este 2-1 in a match where both sides went with similar set-ups. The hosts found their goals through José Couto and José Riquelme, while Maximiliano Artola pulled one back for the visitors. It was the sort of match where the pitch was contested more than controlled, with an even tempo and limited chances for both sides.

Kevin Sassi in the home goal did his share of work, though without any major scares. At the back, Emanuel Molina put in a tidy shift from the centre, and Alexis Aizaga, with his 31 years of experience, handled his side of the flank without any major complications. The midfield was where much of the game was put together; Riquelme, who opened the scoring in the second half, showed the level expected of a footballer with that rating. Couto, at 34, remains a useful striker for this kind of match, with his reading of the game still intact. At the other end, Artola tried to make the difference at certain moments, but found neither the space nor the openings needed to do real damage beyond his consolation goal.

The win allows General Alvear to pick up three points in a very even competition, while Floresta Este goes away feeling they left points behind. It was not a match to remember, but nor was it one of those where everything is decided by the finest of margins. It was simply fairer than it was spectacular, with a clear winner and loser at the end. For the board at both projects, there is still work to be done in defence and attacking precision, though what was seen does not raise any immediate alarm.
