Prov. Saavedra2 - 1Club Atlético San Silvines De Boedo

Provincia de Saavedra claimed a deserved victory on matchday 8 of the Primera L de CABA, beating Veteranos Barracas 2-1 in a match where both teams were evenly matched in approach but the hosts had the sharper finishing. Saavedra's pitch was the setting for a tight contest, one of those where the difference was not in the overall display but in making the most of the chances when they came.

Nicolás Greco and Pipa Loncón scored for the home side. Greco, the 24-year-old defensive midfielder who tends to operate unhurriedly but with purpose, found his moment to score. Loncón, the 19-year-old striker with that Rosarino character of chasing the ball tirelessly, also showed why he is in the coaching staff's thoughts. At the back, Leonel Casas managed the tempo like a centre-half who already understands the game, while Joaquín Vannini, only just past nineteen, did not have too many problems at right-back. Franco Mazur orchestrated from midfield with his usual balance. At the other end, Leonardo Galli scored the visitors' goal with a classic header from a centre-half developed in Patagonia, the sort who never hesitates when the ball comes in high. Sebastián Barba, the veteran 33-year-old left-back who reads the game with the experience he brings from Comodoro Rivadavia, provided an assist that showed he still has his tricks.

The result leaves Saavedra more comfortable in the table and Barracas frustrated by a defeat that could easily have been a draw. For the visitors, the task is to improve their finishing; for the hosts, to build on this start to the campaign as it begins to take shape.
