Club Atlético Santa Rosa4 - 1Deportivo Villa Crespo Veteranos

Pompeya showed no mercy. On matchday 8 of the Primera L porteña, the home side laid on a consistent and clinical display to put Deportivo Villa Crespo Veteranos to the sword with a resounding 4-1 that leaves no room for interpretation. Both squads went with similar setups, balanced 4-4-2s, but the difference lay in their efficiency and their ability to deliver in key moments. The visitors came with no intention of backing down, but Pompeya found gaps early and exploited them ruthlessly.

Néstor Vianello was the man of the match, the one who made the difference with his two goals and a display worthy of an 8.4 rating. The 28-year-old Argentine, whose rating is in no short supply, was in exactly the right place at exactly the right times. Gael Milán also joined the attacking feast with a goal that allowed the striker from Comodoro to round off a fine afternoon. And from an unexpected position, Adolfo Gigena —that Bahía-born centre-back they say is "rare" because he tackles with both feet— added the fourth goal. For the visitors, Silvio Romiti pulled one back from right-back, but it was only a faint hint of a response that came too late. Walter Mazur tried from his position on the flank, even providing assists, but even that was not enough to stop the home steamroller.

For Deportivo Villa Crespo Veteranos, there is the bitter taste of an afternoon where the tactical approach was not absurd, but the execution buried them. When an away side ships four goals at home, the blame is shared but deep. Pompeya, by contrast, carries on in the league with solid arguments and scorers who answer when needed. The next challenge will show whether this was a peak or the confirmation of a team beginning to find its rhythm.
