Match report
Nueva Estrella Almagro were dismantled on their own pitch by Atlético Villa Devoto FC on an afternoon that began evenly but ended as an exercise in tactical superiority and clinical finishing. The 4-0 scoreline was no accident or exaggeration: Villa Devoto played with a consistency that the home side could never neutralise. Both approaches were similar in structure, with 4-4-2 formations and balanced mentality, but the difference lay in efficiency. Where Almagro sought containment, Villa Devoto found space; where they tried to create, the visitors created more.
Villa Devoto’s attacking display was devastating. Lucho Taveggia, the 23-year-old Uruguayan attacking midfielder, continually found the defensive gaps and added his goal. Pichu Vigevani, an experienced 26-year-old striker with more mileage than pace, moved intelligently and netted one. Ian Balerdi probed down the right, Benjamín López from the left completed the rout and ensured Atlético Villa Devoto had four different scorers on the board. The 30-year-old left-back showed that age has not slowed him down in attacking terms. In midfield, Pepe Krause on the right flank defends well but offers little in attack. Saúl Cerda, Almagro's goalkeeper, was booked, highlighting his frustration on an afternoon that exposed him mercilessly.
Almagro were left exposed on the flanks, where Leonardo Zanchetta, a youngster of just 17, could barely contain the visitors' attacking flow. Augusto Zurita on the left wing found no space to exploit his potential. The lesson was a harsh one for the home side: in the Primera L de CABA, defensive inconsistency is costly. Villa Devoto climbed the table; Almagro were left shaken and must immediately rethink their defensive set-up.
