Unión Palermo Hollywood and Liga Recoleta played out a goalless draw with no great excitement on matchday 8 of the Primera L de CABA, a result that leaves a bittersweet taste in both dressing rooms. With two identical 4-4-2 line-ups and balanced mentalities, the match was a succession of efforts lacking too much precision or tactical clarity. The final 1-1 scoreline faithfully reflected what was seen on the pitch: two teams that never quite found the rhythm to get their game going.

The goals came from the forwards. Edu Leguizamón, the 34-year-old striker who has spent years plying his trade in these local tournaments since a fitness coach discovered him almost by chance, scored for Unión Palermo Hollywood. For the visitors, Gael Pereyra, the young Brazilian striker aged just 20, levelled matters with his goal. The half-time score was fair, although both defences left spaces that could have been better exploited. Manuel Roldán was important in shaping Liga Recoleta’s play, while Eric Zambelli, the home side’s left-back, carried out his defensive duties without deserting his post. Enrique Pérez, the experienced 34-year-old centre-back, remained solid at the back for the visitors despite the warnings from the pitch.

The yellow cards for Leguizamón and Pérez neatly summed up the controlled physicality of the match. Unión Palermo Hollywood failed to make the most of home advantage to press for the three points, while Liga Recoleta was content to take a positive result away with them. With no great flashes of quality or claims to lasting significance, both teams add a point that does little to move them closer to their objectives. Matchday 8 will not go down in history, but it is hardly a surprise in a competition where tight results are commonplace in the league.
