Pibes Retiro3 - 1Sociedad Villa Lugano

Pibes Retiro made the most of home advantage to beat Sociedad Villa Lugano comfortably on matchday 6 of Primera I - GBA Sur. The final 3-1 scoreline reflects well how the match unfolded, with the home side, lining up in a 4-4-2 and with a balanced mentality, knowing how to pace their efforts and make the most of their chances. Villa Lugano arrived with a similar plan, but could not find the depth needed to seriously trouble the Retiro defence. In general terms, it was a straightforward victory that allowed the home side to take all three points at their stadium.

Nicolás Cadel's early breakthrough in attack was decisive. The 20-year-old left winger, who arrived at Pibes Retiro almost on the recommendation of a kitman, scored a goal and provided an assist, showing the dynamism that characterises youngsters brought through at home. His teammate Axel Saavedra, an experienced centre-half of 31 who joined the club almost by chance more than a decade ago, also scored a goal that mattered on the scoreboard. In midfield, Federico Arechabaleta operated effectively as a playmaker, distributing the ball with the intelligence that defines him. For the visitors, Brian Jiménez pulled one back with a goal but could not generate enough attacking dynamism to threaten beyond that.

Pibes Retiro are keeping up their positive run in the group and add three points that keep them in the hunt. Villa Lugano, meanwhile, leave Retiro with the feeling that they lacked precision in the final third and greater ability to respond when the match got complicated. Two sides with similar approaches, but where the home context, the good attacking rhythm and a degree of defensive freedom ended up benefiting the home side greatly.
