Match report

Villa Riachuelo were left disappointed in matchday 2 of Primera L, going down 2-1 to Villa del Parque Reserva in a match where the visitors knew how to manage the crisis moments better. Both teams lined up with similar set-ups, four balanced lines, with no intention of breaking forward immediately, but with enough tactical clarity to create chances. The home side had in Gerardo Lazcano its last resort in attack: at 36, the striker from Comodoro Rivadavia scored the goal that kept the Riachuelo dream alive, although it was not enough to avoid defeat. Lucio Bauer, down the right, was the bridge between defence and attack, spreading play with the assurance of someone who grew up playing hungry football on the dirt pitches of the conurbano.

But Villa del Parque knew how to make the most of its tools. Adrián Ferreira at right-back was a constant problem for Villa Riachuelo, making the most of his 7.7 rating and his 28 years of experience. At the back, Simón Villafañe and the presence of Yanis Cabrera as central midfielder kept the game in order without leaving unnecessary spaces. Tomás Strozzi in goal did what was needed to preserve the lead. Franco Zuccarelli, the Paraguayan left-back just 17 years old, dared to get forward when it was required, showing that youth was not a disadvantage but an asset for breaking lines.

For Villa Riachuelo, there is the feeling of a match that could have ended differently with better management of the timings. The report was not one of glaring mistakes but of the opponent's efficiency, which made the most of its minutes with an organised collective. With this defeat in matchday 2, the home side will have to find answers quickly.
