Match report

Milton Tomé opened the scoring on nineteen minutes and sealed the match with his second goal when the result was already beyond doubt. The centre-back from Paternal, with a rating of 8.4, was the chief reason CR Paternal secured a comfortable victory over AC Parque Avellaneda on matchday two of the Primera L de GBA Sur. Hailing from Resistencia, Tomé showed why he is the undisputed star of the home side: solid in defence, lethal in attack. Parque Avellaneda managed to pull one back through Adriano Navarro, who scored from midfield after receiving an assist from Eric Valenzuela, but it was not enough to halt Paternal's momentum.

The tactical plans were similar: both sides opted for a 4-4-2 formation with balanced mentality, which promised a tight battle in midfield. It was nothing of the sort. Paternal found space out wide, where Edgardo Ortega, the 28-year-old left-sided midfielder from Patagonia, built play with intelligence. In the holding role, Nico Salvatierra, at 33, controlled the tempo with the experience of someone who has been doing this for decades. Adrián Vassalli, the midfielder of just eighteen whom they called "the ambidextrous" at Tigre, completed a side that knew how to manage its dominance without needing to burn through energy. Jesús Zanetti, in the home goal, had little to do but was reliable in what he did have to deal with.

The visitors never found any rhythm. Adriano Navarro, booked for dissent, showed the frustration of a squad that could not put together a coherent plan. Valenzuela tried a few forays down the right, but without the attacking threat to cause real problems. The final 3-1 fairly reflects what was seen: Paternal controlling, Parque Avellaneda suffering. For the home side, three points that keep them in the hunt; for the visitors, the challenge of regrouping quickly.
