What player morale is in a football manager
Morale is a player's state of mind: how confident and content he is. It rises with wins and good performances and drops with defeats, poor games or a lack of minutes.
Real football talks about the mood of the dressing room all the time: a side on a winning run plays with freedom, one coming off defeats shrinks. Manager games represent that with morale, a value that changes with what happens to each player: team results, his own performance and whether he is playing at all. A regular who is performing has high morale; a substitute who never gets on slowly loses it.
In ELDT morale runs from 0 to 100 with its centre at 60. It is recalculated from the player's last 6 matches: winning, a good rating, a goal or an assist push it up; losing, a poor rating, no minutes or a red card pull it down. Match by match it also drifts back towards the centre, so one streak never fixes it forever.
The staff help: the psychologist raises the squad's base morale by 2 points per level, and the dressing-room leader makes every defeat hurt less. In the academy, high morale helps youngsters grow faster. ELDT has no team chemistry system: what moves the mood is each player's morale.
